Eleven Years of Saturday Scenes
Last Saturday, I announced that I was going to stop running Saturday scenes on Twitter. This was not a sudden decision; I’ve been thinking about it since last year, which marked ten years since this started, and it seemed like a good place to pause. But then, no one week ever seemed the right time to do it.
Recently, some technical issues have come up which basically mean that it isn’t quite as easy to create the collection every week as it was and I missed a couple of updates and suddenly, I realised that the right time had come now, and that I would rather finish it formally than limp along for another month.
You all have been so kind in response to my announcement and I wanted to share a few of the Twitter comments which touched me.
That’s a shame but thank you so much for doing it for so long. Always enjoy seeing what others have posted. x
I’m sorry to hear this! But the most important thing is for you to take care of yourself and do what you must. You’ve gathered some amazing photos, & I’ve enjoyed them, so thank you!
Sorry to hear this. You’ve been part of my Saturday for a number of years. Also some great memories. X
It has been a very nice and long run and I’ve enjoyed making it part of my Saturday for the last ten years or so. Thank you for all the work you put into it!
It’s a lot to do. Thank you for doing it for so long.
Thanks for all your efforts I’ve loved posting pics and looking at others and love it that my grandson was born on a Saturday a sat scenes baby!
But how will I know it’s Saturday?!
Thank you for all the sat scenes, I have enjoyed taking part and looking at everyone else’s pictures from around the world. Love the jan 2012 sat scene baby family x
As a direct result of SatScenes we have not just lots of great nature and vacation photos but an *amazing* collection of baby and growing-up photos of our kid, because I had the equipment and experience to make them. Thank you so much for SatScenes!
I still can’t really believe that so many people have taken part in this project, which was really just a whim of mine. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed it and how many fantastic photographs I have seen. I have been honoured to be a part of your lives while I watched the seasons change and babies grow and holidays taken (SO MANY fantastic holidays taken) while you documented your Saturdays for me to share.
This has been for me a most wondrous thing and I am going to have to stop writing about it now or else I’ll change my mind.
You are all wonderful and I hope you keep taking photographs and that you keep sharing them with the world.
